Like any museum collection of inclusion, we have in our collections specimens previously selected and transferred or purchased to the Museum. From the beginning of the collection we try to make the basis of the collection the material not selected, extracted directly from the deposit. Currently, in the collection more than half of the lumps are specimens previously unselected, and the first person looking at the amber and who checking for inclusions is a museum employee. The predominance of the material makes the Gdańsk Collection of inclusions unique and provides a reliable base for discovering of Tertiary biodiversity, palaeobiology and palaeoecology.
